Our Purpose

Our mission: To embrace the curriculum in this moment and fulfill Freud’s vision for a secular ministry of the soul. We are the home of the new practitioner.

Our new Membership community was designed for practitioners who want to take this work into the world. It is based in David’s bodies of work: Narrative Coaching, Narrative Release, Integrative Development, The Five Maturities.

The community is based in communal self-directed learning. You have 24/7 access to all the materials in the library at your level. You can use them under an open source licensing agreement to to enrich your practice or create new offers.

The Threshold community builds on the strengths of the community we have have built together already. A deep sense of a safe space, the formation of bonds in and beyond the programs, the richness of kindred spirits who work outside the box.

The Threshold is your opportunity and space to study David’s work in ways that fit your schedule and needs. It is a rich foundation on which to build the practice that will serve you and those with whom you work well in these times.

Registration gives you access for one quarter, with a recurring renewal for as long as you want. We will launch the integrated development experience based on David’s new book in 2027 to deepen your ability to adapt and become the new practitioner the world needs now. This year’s cohorts will get you ready for what is to come — both at The Moment Institute and in the world.

Members are encouraged to identify projects to work on as they move through The Threshold. To support your progress as a Threshold Member, you can move between inner work (Growing Yourself) and outer work (Growing Your Practice). You also have the opportunity to deepen how you work (Growing Your Skills).

GROWING YOURSELF

  • In these 90-minute sessions, you will be guided by David through experiential practices rooted in The Five Maturities framework and the Narrative Release work, including threshold work at each of The Five GATES (Grief, Attachment, Trauma, Embodiment, Shadow).

  • The focus is on supporting your maturation and self-regulation as well as strengthening your ability to show up in your life and work in new ways.

GROWING YOUR SKILLS

  • In these 90-minute session, we will explore the Narrative Coaching approach and the skills you can use in a variety of contexts.

  • Core Members are encouraged to form practice groups to work on their skills together.

  • Enhanced Members have 24/7 access to the NC Skills Lab using the Ovida AI-based platform (which David helped them to design) to practice their skills.

  • The platform enables Enhanced Members to practice NC skills, get feedback, see demos, and more. It is a great way to accelerate your capabilities and confidence.

GROWING YOUR PRACTICE

  • In these 90-minute sessions, you will be guided by David through activities rooted in Integrative Development to evolve your practice and/or project.

  • You will gain new language, frames and resources to advance what matters most to you. You will also have a pod to work with to support your journey.

  • Enhanced Members have access to a study group with David exploring his new book on The Five Maturities. It offers scaffolding for the future of coaching and beyond.

A Message from David

I am excited to finally be able to fulfill the dream I had when I first started The Moment Institute. As is often the case when you are scouting new terrains, not every step taken is the right one. However, we are arriving at a place where we can see the future of The Institute now.

We are breaking new ground in so many ways. This matters because the world in which coaching was born is not the world that we live in now. We would love for you to be a part of shaping what The Threshold community becomes!
