The Moment Institute Ecosystem
A network of interconnected spaces, practitioners, and programs.
Dr. David Drake started The Moment Institute as an opportunity to bring Narrative Coaching to a wider online audience. Since then, David’s innovation and the push by graduates for more opportunities to stay engaged with the Institute have resulted in more programs, workshops, and events than ever before.
In this week’s blog, we will explore the different elements of The Moment Institute ecosystem and your opportunities for engagement to further your capacity and career as a coach.
The Moment Institute Tribe
We find that the Institute attracts a certain type of practitioner who is naturally curious, self-reflective, and open to new ideas and experiences. We hear time and time again that people come to the Institute for David and stay for the community they find once inside.
This community is deeply supportive and generative — it offers a strong sense of belonging, a source of growth and inspiration, and a sounding board for new ideas.

The 3 Signature Programs
Our three signature programs, Narrative Coach, The ID Way, and Narrative Release, draw from the same core philosophy and strengthen each other. They draw from principles that remain on the leading edge of professional practice and seem especially fitting for these times.
In the Narrative Coach Program, practitioners use these principles to support individuals and teams to tell and live a new story. In the ID Way Program, practitioners use these principles to deepen what groups and organizations can learn from what is present. In the Narrative Release Program, practitioners use these principles to deepen their capacity to cross their own thresholds so they can do the same for others.
While these programs are connected at their core, they each serve a different purpose. Practitioners can choose the program or sequence of programs that best meet their needs. The Narrative Coach Program is where we suggest most practitioners begin their journey with us. It offers a more natural way to work that is simpler and more powerful. We will introduce graduate offers for the first time in 2023, including support for upgrading skills through the world’s first AI-/video-based platform for feedback.
The Narrative Release Program supports your inner journey of maturation as a practitioner, with a focus on the thresholds to cross along the way. It has proven quite popular for a variety of practitioners as a source of nourishment and growth to be able to work in these times. The ID Way Program supports the outer half of the same journey, with a focus on the thresholds those you work with need to cross in order to grow. It will feature lots of time in our Lab working with peers on integrating this work in your programs and projects.
We are building a five-year mastery journey that would include all three programs, time in the Lab, opportunities to mentor others and hang out with David, and more. It is being built around David’s pioneering new work based in The Five Maturities.
Circle
Circle is our online platform that hosts much of The Moment Institute ecosystem. All three signature programs and The Threshold Lab (see below) live on Circle. It’s a community-based learning platform that allows practitioners to learn from, connect with, and collaborate with each other.
Within Circle, each cohort of each program has a private area for its program-specific discussions. Practitioners also have access to community-wide spaces where they can attend events and masterclasses, interact with students and graduates from other programs, etc.
The Threshold Lab
The Threshold Lab is an inter-program space on Circle where all current and former Moment Institute practitioners have the opportunity to connect, share resources, and learn from each other. The Threshold Lab is a network and incubator that offers a uniquely generative and supportive community where students and graduates can continue to deepen their integration and application of what they have learned.
Beyond Coaching Experience
Finally, the Beyond Coaching Experience is a free, monthly session with Dr. David Drake where he explores one of the core principles or practices at the heart of this work. Every other month he will be joined by a guest to expand the conversation. This series allows our community to engage with practitioners who are interested in working this way but who may not yet have enrolled in The Moment Insitute.
